Cr-Mo steel pressure vessels have been in service, typically in reactor vessels and coke drums for refinery operations, since the 1940s. Usually, for coke drums as an example, these service condition s mean that the coke drums are subjected to extreme thermal cycling with internal temperatures reaching above 900 degrees F and then the drums are subjected to water quenching. This severe service results in several different types of damage such as shell bulging, skirt attachment weld cracking, weld seam cracking, and internal weld overlay cracking.One important feature of the supplement is its table on types of damage, operating conditions under which to expect damage, the specific degradation phenomena, and which materials are typically susceptible to the damage. It also includes typical considerations for weld repair of in-service degradation based on the type of damage and provides a detailed repair approach sequence, from the initial identification of flaws to the examination and pressure test.The ASME Post Construction Standards Committee opened a technical revision in 2010 to address repair welding considerations for Cr-Mo pressure vessels. Over a period of 4 years, the arti cle was refined by the ASME PCC Subcommittee on Repair and Testing and the ASME PCC Standards Committee through the ASME/ANSI consensus process.The supplement on Cr-Mo Repair Welding Considerations will be included in subsequent editions of the ASME PCC-2 Standard. Future editions of the supplement may be expanded to include considerations for repairs to vanadium modified Cr-Mo alloys commonly used today in hydrocracker and hydrotreater reactors. Other future considerations may include expounding on the relationship between post weld heat treatment, improvement in toughness, reduction of hardness, and the degradation of tensile and toughness properties of Cr-Mo steels through excessive post weld heat treatment.The driving force for the Cr-Mo Repair Welding Considerations supplement was Dr. Takayasu Tahara, PCC-2 Committee Contributing Member and Chair of the Japan Welding Engineering Societys Working Group on the English Version of Guidelines for Repair Welding of Pressure Equipment , JWES-CP-0902E. The vision was for PCC-2 to develop and include much-needed guidelines for carrying out successful welded repairs on Cr-Mo pressure vessels. Youll have a much better chance of actually getting to speak to the decision-maker if you can address them in your own words rather than depending on the gatekeepers interpretation. Rather, the prospect is probably trying to give the impression of interest so you will happily hang up. The mere fact that they asked for a price so early in the relationship is a red flag. Try saying something like, Id be happy to send you a quote. Youre confident that this would fit in your budget? That encourages the prospect to be a bit more forthcoming. Another approach is to say, Sure, and youll be ready to proceed with the purchase once you have a formal quote? That puts some pressure on the prospect to either reject you up front, in which case youll save some time, or seriously consider the purchase.

The material, which can be made of metal or polymer or essentially any material that behaves elastically, is also re-usable because after absorbing energy it is not damaged and can be re-set to its original configuration, according to Zavattieri.More importantly, says Restrepo, Our results have shown that PXCMs can perform similarly to commercial metallic cellular structures used for energy dissipation without relying on plastic deformation.Despite the breakthroughs in the early research stage, the project is considered to be in the proof-of-concept phase. While Im sure each of us has felt the impulse to take a baseball bat to office equipment at one time or abedrngnisher, we must remember that its important to manage our emotions at work.Depending on the source of your stress- such as whether its a rolleal matter seeping into your professional life or if its work-related- it might make sense to get your HR department involved in devising a solution.While stress is a part of both professional and personal life, there are ways to help you deal with it in a healthy and productive manner, says Ericka Tate, Simply Hireds Senior Director of Human Resources. If you find yourself wondering if the issue is important enough or if your stress is justified, you should reach out and at least have a conversation to see if ther e is anything HR can do to help you. I learned this the hard way when I became enmeshed in an increasingly heated email conversation with a coworker that resulted in hurt feelings on both sides. Speaking face-to-face allows you to gauge the other persons intentions and clarify statements. Face-to-face conversation also keeps the conversation focused and polite. One remedy stay focused on the matter at hand, remember what is relevant to the situation and ignore what is not. Mark went on to say, I have to remember that everyone goes through their own struggles and that Im not the only person with deadlines. Taking a moment to realize this helps me relate to others around me and be more reasonable in my responses. Another tip Go into meetings with an agenda so that conversation doesnt veer off track.Look for tough loveIf we go through the list of people in our lives, we can all identify the enablers (people who encourage poor choices by supporting our excuses) and t he tough lovers (people who force us to face harsh truths in order to help us make necessary changes in our lives.) Try to find a tough love colleague who can offer you objective and level-headed advice when you feel heated. You want someone who will minimize your mounting hysteria and help you come up with workable solutions.Take a break to regroupWhen you start to feel overwhelmed- such as in a heated discussion or during a buildup of pressures- excuse yourself and calm down so that you can better assess the situation. One Simply Hired team member, Mindy, said that she takes walks in order to decrease stress. Getting out into the fresh air makes any tense situation or difficult moment evaporate into the sunshine, she said. When I take a quick walk around the block, or even just the building, I get renewed energy and feel a bit calmer and more grounded.Separate the work from the personalIts not uncommon for your personal life to bleed into your professional life and vice versa, esp ecially when there are lunch outings, office happy hours and always-on devices such as smartphones pumping the dramas of your personal life into your work environment. Try to understand your personal thresholds and build boundaries between these two aspects of your life.We all experience personal issues or sometimes find ourselves in imperfect work situations. While you may not have control over these events and circumstances, you can make a plan for how to comport yourself in the workplace.
